Leipzig has its own airport: Leipzig/Halle Airport (IATA: LEJ). It is located 22 km to the north west of the city centre. The airport is connected by train every 30 minutes during the day time. You can also take a flight to an other city, which could be cheaper and than take the train (Deutsche Bahn or the cheaper InterConnex) or a bus. There are a lot of bus companies in germany right now, e.g Meinfernbus. Travelling by bus is generally cheap, e.g. you can get a trip from Berlin to Leipzig for 10 EUR. Since most websites of companies are in german language only, please do not hesitate to contact usfor help.
For payment in buses and trams of public transport you'll need coins.
You will find a lot of hotels and hostels for all budgets at Trivago and similar pages. Also privat apartments are available at airbnb. Try to find one near the city center since walking or biking is the most common way to move around in Leipzig. You can rent bikes at nextbike.
